My husband and I have turned our travels into opportunities to run marathons. My father is a dedicated runner and started traveling all over world to do marathons. Ryan, my husband, and I thought that sounded like a lot of fun and jumped on the band wagon. He and I have just kept our trips in the United States but have enjoyed the excitement just the same.

I had not been to Salt Lake City for many years and thought it would be fun to go back so we found a race out there that my father was interested in. The Big Cottonwood Revel marathon to be exact. Revel is known for it downhill races. This one starts towards the top of the Wasatch Mountains and winds down the hill through to Salt Lake City. The scenery is amazing and the slope is no joke. Runners that run this race generally see a huge decrease in their marathon times. My husband ended up getting a personal record.

I on the other hand was not well trained for this race. This was my third marathon this year but I did not get enough strength training and runs in between races. It was hard for me to settle into my pace. I knew I did not want to go out too fast but ended up going out much too slow. At about mile 18 my foot and ankle started to hurt very bad, right before my least favorite part of the course, a dreaded out and back. By the time I was going to finish the marathon the pain was so bad I could barely walk which needless to say KILLED my time but I was able to finish. After a visit to the ER and the Ortho walk in I found out I have a bad case of tendinitis. I’ll have to take some time off but I am so glad it’s not something worse.

One of the other highlights of the trip was going to the St Regis in Deer Valley. The hotel was fantastic, I could not believe how many activities they had and how family friendly the hotel was. I would love to bring our girls back there sometime. They had yoga in the morning, activities by the pool morning and evening, S’mores by a fire, games spread out throughout the property, champagne toasts at sunset just to name a few activities. The scenery was amazing and I am so glad that we stayed there!

I wanted to share a look from our trip. This top is amazing in person, I get so many complements on it. I always feel like I take complements as a gauge if I got the right thing 😊 The top ran really big so size down for sure. I found mine at my local Evereve store and I know they flew off of the shelves. So don’t wait to buy this one. The top can easily be styled with a skirt or pants. I love too that you can wear it to church, day or night. I actually rocked mine for the first time to a Vikings Game #skol.
