Spring Break 2016…

We had such a fun Valentine’s Day weekend. My husband and I went to Red Dress MN here in Minneapolis on Saturday. Then we went to brunch after church at our favorite spot near our old house. Then naps, heart shaped pizza, and “family movie night.” Family movie night means we watch one episode of Daniel Tiger as a family. My two and a half year old thinks it’s so fun to cuddle up on the couch as a family and watch a show.

The next series I will be doing on Pink and Navy Stripes is on Spring Break or warm weather gear. Here in Minnesota it seems like a lot of families take it very seriously getting South at some point during the winter. Even though it’s been a very mild winter, we all need a break!

When packing for a warm weather location you have to think of what the fashion is like at your destination. I always think back to an event I went to in Miami in January. I wanted to wear a white summer dress. My Mom had to remind me that even though it felt like summer to me, people there still dress like it’s winter; which I still think is so funny. If you’re going to a warm weather location, don’t automatically assume that everyone will dress like it’s the Fourth of July. If you’re going to a resort in a warm weather spot, it’s safe to assume that everyone will be dressing for the weather.

This first look I wanted to share with you is my favorite pair of shorts and a sweatshirt. We love to go to Florida in the winter and it seems like the days are perfect but the nights can get a little cool. I always like to have a cheerful, but warmer, top to wear just in case. I wear it with shorts on the trip but then when I get home, it pairs nicely with boyfriend jeans for the spring.

I love wearing hats on vacation. Normally, by the pool I am wearing a hat to protect my face and hair from the sun. I always try to keep my face out of the sun because I feel like it will just age your face and – hello! – you can wear bronzer to make it look tan! For my hair, it seems like you pay so much money to get the color just right, I hate to ruin it on vacation. I have had really good luck with this product to protect my hair color.
