Basement Lighting…

September 6, 2017

All I can think about this week is the basement lighting that I need to order.  I have so many different routes I can go but since our palette is kind of plain I want to go with bold lighting. I will share an update on our progress in my Instagram stories. So far we have a lot of white shiplap which I am totally in love with! We will eventually have some grey carpet and tiles in the living areas. I am doing everything white in the bathroom. All that being said, our lighting is where the statements will be made. I am having such a hard time narrowing it all down other than in the case of our bathroom lighting. On my idea board I couldn’t even come up with a second option!

For the bedroom lighting I am trying to decide between at very small chandelier or a flush mount fixture. The ceilings aren’t super high in the basement so I don’t want the room to feel any smaller. I really like some of the sputnik style lights that give it more of an industrial feel. I have always really liked the flush mount or drum style lighting but also like the idea of how much gold shows on the white and black light.

Finally for our living room area, my husband and I have used some Pinterst photos as inspiration for the area. The only way I can come up with ideas is by seeing photos of the area and picking things I like from each photograph. I love the idea of using contrasting colors in that area. I am more drawn to matte black color rather than anything shiny.

Make sure to check out my Pinterst page for some of the pictures we have been loving!

Hi! Caleb and I have built a new house and we’re moving in next week! I’m so stressed about decorating, I’m a fashion girl and not much a decorator. My colors are very neutral, everything is either gray, beige or white. Our new sectional is gray too. I’m looking for bright things to get, what do you recommend? I would love to hear your ideas! Hope everything is going well with you and your fam!

I LOVE getting pattern throw pillows and rugs. It’s a great way to add some color to your house without spending a lot of money. Then down the road if you get sick of them it’s not something you invested a lot of money in.
